LED Grow Lights?
LED Grow Lights have now become a viable alternative cost wise, to HID set-ups.
We are not suggesting you bin your system and start again.
But those of you who are looking to get a small set-up for home use, have never had it so good.
Not only do LED grow lamps look good, they work well.
With the 12v LED Grow Lights starting to appear on the market, 'Green Gardening' will soon come of age.
Boats, Caravans and Sheds will become a viable location to base your grow op. Although solar panels are still
quite pricey, they are coming down fast with 40w models as low as £100. Wind power is the better option for remote
installations at present. I have seen 500w(max) kits for around £350. You have the extra cost of battery
and charge regulator to consider as well. But dependant on your crop it could well make sense.
Due to LED Lights delivering targeted high intensity light, they are also ideal for confined spaces.
Wether you wish to grow herbs in the pantry or an attic full of your finest, LEDs provide a number of benefits compared to
HID set-ups.
When buying your LED Grow Lights, cheapest does not mean bad quality. Most LEDs are made to work for say 50,000-100,000
hours these days. The important thing to look out for is how much light they chuck out.
So ask the
supplier how many lumens it produces.
It is also worth pointing out that you are better off buying from your home country.
Lights may look cheap with the weak US Dollar, but add on Import Duty/Vat and you will start to wish you bought one locally.
