Back in the 1960's the first commercially usable LEDs were developed by combining three primary elements; gallium, arsenic and phosphorus (GaAsP) to obtain a red light source of 655nm. Due to research by NASA, the falling cost of LEDs and increased reliability they are now a viable option for plant growth. More efficient LEDs means cheaper, more durable, super energy efficient lighting.

In 2008 the 14w panels were very popular, but now the 45-90w models are fairly priced we would advise investing in them. The 600w models will be out of most peoples price range until atleast 2011 as they currently retail for £500+.
